About TREATMENT

Gingival augmentation, also known as gingival grafting, is a procedure used to treat receding gums that expose the roots of teeth or the necks of implants. At our clinic, it is performed with the utmost precision by professionals with over 20 years of experience using only time-tested methods. By gently transferring the palate tissue or special artificial membranes, gum health is restored, the beauty of your smile is regained, and your teeth are protected from long-term damage. Special attention to your mental well-being: we will always listen to you attentively, calm you down, answer all your questions so you can feel calm and confident both in the dentist’s chair and after you go home.

Why is gingival augmentation needed?

Gingival augmentation is an effective method that is used not only to restore the beauty of the smile, but also to protect both natural teeth and teeth restored with implants. Gingival augmentation is usually recommended in the following cases:
• If the gums recede and expose the roots of the teeth which begin to respond to cold food, sensitivity and pain develop, and the change in aesthetics becomes noticeable when smiling or speaking.
• If the gums recede and expose the roots of the teeth which start to respond to cold food, sensitivity and pain develop, and the change in aesthetics becomes noticeable when smiling or talking.
• If fixed gum deficiency is diagnosed around implants threaded in any part of the mouth. As this condition progresses, the implant necks become exposed, food debris accumulates under the unstable gums, peri-implantitis develops and there is a risk of implant loss.

How do we perform this treatment?

When performing gingival augmentation, we only use methods that have been proven effective in long-term practice: we transfer both palatal tissues and special artificial membranes to the gums with extreme precision, and reduce postsurgical discomfort with long-acting painkillers.

Course of treatment

  • 01

    COURSE OF TREATMENT

During the consultation, the doctor will carefully assess the condition of your gums and develop the most effective treatment plan tailored to your individual needs.

  • 02

    TREATMENT

During the treatment, which is carried out under local anaesthesia, natural tissue or special artificial materials are transplanted into the area where the gums have receded.

  • 03

    HEALING

To ensure smooth healing during the initial one to two weeks following the gingival augmentation treatment, we will provide you with detailed post-surgical care instructions.

  • 04

    FOLLOW-UP EXAMINATION

Once the gums have healed, we carefully evaluate the results of the treatment and provide you with instructions on proper oral care that you can follow at home.

D.U.K.

The most common cause of gum recession is improper brushing with a regular or electric toothbrush using excessive horizontal movements. Once you learn how to care for your mouth without damaging it, gum recession stabilises but the soft tissue that has receded does not grow back. If the condition is advanced, the aesthetics of the smile are no longer pleasing, the tooth necks become sensitive or inflammation develops when the implants are exposed, a gingival augmentation treatment is prescribed.

Gum augmentation is a treatment performed under local anaesthesia. For your greater comfort, we always numb the mucous membrane with topical anaesthetics before the needle is injected.
In order to select the most appropriate anaesthetics and determine their dosage individually, each patient at our clinic fills out a questionnaire.

No special preparation is required for the treatment, except for refraining from smoking. After the treatment, the doctor will provide you with detailed information on post-surgical care. You will be able to resume your daily activities immediately after the treatment, however, during the healing period, which lasts around two weeks, we recommend that you do not touch the newly formed gums with your hands or tongue, avoid sharp, hard, very hot or cold food and drinks, brush your teeth particularly cautiously in the area of the surgery, do not use dental floss and refrain from smoking.
