About TREATMENT

Our goal is to preserve your healthy, natural teeth for as long as possible. However, in order to prevent inflammation and the complications it causes, teeth must occasionally be removed. Depending on the specific situation, a treatment plan that is most effective for you is developed. We also discuss the options for restoring your lost teeth.

REMOVAL OF WISDOM TEETH

Fully and correctly erupted wisdom teeth do not need to be extracted. Unfortunately, if these teeth have erupted incompletely, crookedly, are trapped in the bone, severely damaged or beyond treatment, they will have to be extracted. We always strive to perform this procedure as gently as possible. Where necessary, we use ultrasonic instruments, which cause less trauma to the surrounding bone than conventional drills.

What happens IF THE WISDOM TOOTH IS NOT REMOVED IN TIME?

If a tooth that is beyond treatment or has erupted incorrectly is not removed in time, there is a risk of dental crowding, damage to adjacent teeth, jawbone resorption, cysts, abscesses, gum inflammation or infection, which can spread to vital organs. At the same time, pain, unwanted aesthetic changes and unpleasant odour from the mouth begin to bother the patient.

How do we perform this treatment?

Our goal is to keep your teeth healthy for as long as possible, which is why we only remove them when they are truly untreatable. Before each such procedure, we make sure once again that it is truly impossible to save the tooth. Once the decision to remove a tooth has been made, we use the least traumatic methods possible to preserve the bone for a future implant.

Is it necessary to remove a severely decayed tooth?

How to prepare for the procedure?

No special preparation is required before tooth extraction. On the day of the procedure, it is recommended to follow your usual routine: eat, take any medication you use regularly, and brush your teeth thoroughly.

Course of treatment

  • 01

    CONSULTATION

During the consultation, your oral health will be carefully assessed, all necessary tests will be performed, and you will be introduced to the treatment plan best suited to your individual situation.

  • 02

    PREPARATION

In order to select the most appropriate painkillers and determine the individual dosage, your general health and anxiety level will be assessed before the procedure.

  • 03

    EXTRACTION

During the procedure, we remove the tooth very cautiously, taking special care to protect the surrounding bone. If the tooth is stuck in the bone, we divide it into pieces by means of special ultrasonic instruments and remove it without causing trauma. To reduce the likelihood of post-surgical bleeding, blood coagulants are used and the wound is stitched with self-dissolving sutures.

  • 04

    CARE

To ensure that the post-surgical period is smooth, you will be introduced to post-surgical care, provided with a detailed information sheet containing the doctor’s contact details, and prescribed pain relief medication.

D.U.K.

Tooth extraction is a procedure that is performed very carefully and gently under effective local anaesthesia. For your greater comfort, the gum is always numbed with topical anaesthetics before the needle is injected. Are you very anxious? If necessary, you can be administered sedatives before this and other surgical procedures.

Several wisdom teeth can be removed during a single procedure depending on the individual condition of your oral cavity, your general health and the complexity of the surgery, which is determined by the position of the wisdom teeth in the jaw. This question will always be answered by the doctor after assessing your situation.

After any surgical procedure, including tooth extraction, we will always explain in detail how to take proper care of your mouth, how to eat and what symptoms are considered normal. You will receive an information sheet to help you remember. We will also prescribe appropriate medication to relieve pain. To ensure smooth healing, we recommend cooling the cheek at the site of tooth extraction with ice for the first 24 hours after the surgery. A few days after more extensive surgery, swelling of the cheek or bruising may occur. This is a normal reaction of the body. In addition, choose soft, lukewarm and non-spicy foods and drinks for the first few weeks and refrain from smoking and drinking alcohol to ensure that the tissues heal smoothly.
